Yes, Floatin is built with multiple layers of security including ID verification, secure payment processing, transparent rating systems, AI fraud detection, and pre-approved listings through human moderation. All transactions are protected, and we hold payments securely until rentals are complete.
What items can I rent, buy, or sell on Floatin?
You can list tools, camping gear, photography equipment, tech gadgets, outdoor equipment, sports gear, party supplies, and many other items. Each listing goes through moderation to ensure it meets our marketplace standards. We don't allow prohibited items like weapons, hazardous materials, or illegal goods.
How does the rental payment process work?
All transactions are processed through our secure payment system. For rentals, payment is held securely when the booking is confirmed. The renter pays upfront, and we hold the funds during the rental period. The owner receives their payout automatically after the item is returned and both parties confirm the transaction is complete.
What happens if an item gets damaged during rental?
All rentals on Floatin include protection coverage. Before each rental, both parties complete a condition report with photos. If damage occurs, the renter is responsible for repairs or replacement up to the declared value. Our dispute resolution team helps mediate any disagreements fairly.
How do I set rental prices for my items?
You can set your own rental prices based on the item's value, rental duration, and local demand. We provide pricing suggestions based on similar items in your area. Most owners charge 5-10% of the item's purchase price per day for rentals. You can also offer weekly and monthly discounts to encourage longer rentals.
Can I cancel a rental booking?
Yes, both renters and owners can cancel bookings according to our cancellation policy. Free cancellation is available up to 48 hours before the rental start time. Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a fee. Owners who frequently cancel bookings may have their accounts suspended to protect renter experience.
Do I need insurance to rent out my items?
Floatin provides protection coverage for all rentals, but you may want to check with your personal insurance provider. Some homeowners or renters insurance policies cover peer-to-peer rentals, while others may require additional coverage. We recommend reviewing your policy to understand your protection options.
How do pickup and return work?
Owners and renters arrange pickup and return times that work for both parties. Most exchanges happen in person at a mutually agreed location. Both parties complete a condition check during pickup and return. Some owners offer delivery for an additional fee, which can be arranged through the app messaging.
